This is so sad! I had looked it up a month or two ago and read that it was vegan, but was only cooked on shared equipment (which doesn’t bother me). I ate several of them. This is sad news because I liked the food and it was in a convenient location for me, right next door to my job.

Beware: ALL of Smashburger’s sides are cooked in BEEF FAT. I just confirmed this with a manager at one of their locations, after which I received a full refund. Also, if you check their website under: FOOD > NUTRITIONAL INFO, you will see that their Black Bean Burgers contain cholesterol. Cholesterol only comes from animal products, which confirms the ingredients you posted above include eggs and/or cheese. Or possibly even a meat product which is undisclosed. This infuriates me as they have several different “veggie” sides that they try to pass off as being healthy.

I didn’t know this until I saw it the other day and I was very disgusted because everyone there knew I was a vegetarian aswell as I had consumed many many of the fried items there. so beware. also always ask them to write to scrape grill. unfortunately they are not required to have a separate grill for black bean burgers. they are supposed to scrape it after eat patty regaurdless but just for safe measure always a reminder is good. especially in busy times. people don’t realize how serious what we eat is and just don’t think about it.
