The Vegetarian Traveler--Start Planning Your Next Vacation

Jed and Susan Civic have been vegetarian/environmental/animal rights activists for many years. The two have combined their talents and interests to create a terrific new guide called A Vegetarian Traveler. This 303-page reference book offers thorough information on vegetarian-friendly vacation spots throughout the United States, as well as Canada, Europe, and parts of the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America, Australia, India, Israel, and Sri Lanka.

The book is well organized and includes details such as a brief description of each location, which meals are provided (including what percentage of meals are vegetarian, vegan, and/or organic), the type of rooms available (including the number of non-smoking rooms or air conditioned rooms), whether the place has access for wheelchairs, and whether pets are welcome. The authors went so far as to research whether the vacation spot offers non-animal tested toiletries, uses insecticides, and whether linens and other items provided are of animal origin. Photos are included for many locations as well as a list of nearby attractions.
