Announcing a New Professional Education Fund
Every vegetarian has experienced the frustration of talking to a health professional who did not have the facts straight on vegetarian diets. I hope to help change that. I am starting a fund, named in honor of my mother who became vegetarian at age 60, to help support speakers who address groups of health professionals about vegetarian topics.
VRG has kindly agreed to administer this fund, which will assure that the money is safe and that the speakers are indeed informed and positive about vegetarian nutrition subjects.
When it comes to professional conferences, sadly, due to very tight budgets, speakers get chosen because an outside party will pay their expenses. This fund will pay those expenses so that vegetarian topics can compete and get on the program. That way, our messages get heard loud and often.
Your donation will be used to create a fund with enough capital so that only the interest will be used to fund speakers. This will allow your generous gift to assist in educating people for years to come. This spring, I will be making a donation in honor of my mother to this fund. Perhaps some of you wish to do the same. We will send a card to the person you honor in this way to announce your donation.
