Vegan. The café has quickly become a favorite spot in the city, known particularly for its vegan burgers, created with a unique blend of plant-based ingredients that closely mimic the taste and texture of traditional beef. It also places a strong emphasis on coffee, sourcing high-quality beans from local roasters, as well as their own ice cream, and a whipped treat for pets, too. The café fosters a warm and friendly environment, where patrons can feel comfortable exploring plant-based options. They offer senior and military discounts, along with a loyalty program that rewards regular customers, welcoming everyone who is interested in their food choices. Adding a more fun, quirky element to the café, their mascot, Boris the Venus flytrap serves as a playful reminder of the benefits of exploring veganism. Instead of sticking to his carnivorous roots, Boris embodies the idea of trying new things and encourages visitors to discover the delicious world of plant-based cuisine. At Feed Me, the goal is not only to serve great food but also to inspire an open-minded approach to vegan options.

Vegan. One Grub Community has a Diner Located inside First Christian Church, with seating available both inside and outside, but it is much more than that: the outside seating overlooks a garden where they grow fresh produce, and their mission includes community service and combatting local food insecurity: All tips go to their Pay it Forward program, which enables people to get a full meal in exchange for one hour of work in the garden or kitchen, and they also have education and volunteer opportunities, in addition to a market selling cold food to be heated at home (including seitan, cashew-based Not’Cho Queso, and garden produce). The space is simple and wholesome, and the lunch and all-day brunch served on site has a dedicated following, with the menu varying each week (see their Instagram for updates) that can include the likes of soups, salads, bagels, ribz made from jackfruit, seitan or tempeh, setain steak migas, tacos, and posole verde.

Vegan/Mexican. Do you love spicy Pico and yummy guac? Looking for a pure vegan Mexican place to dine out at this weekend? Try Veegos. I would start with their Guacamole bowl served with nachos and order a glass of the Aguas frescas to wash the oil down. For main course, the Tostadas offered with jackfruit piques my curiosity. Or, their mouthwatering green tomatillo enchiladas, could be a great choice as an entree. Finally, what is a Mexican vegan meal without the creamy Arroz con Leche. Of course, we can rest easy that this is without the “leche” (Milk)! Note that Veegos is very responsive over their Facebook page, should you have any questions on the menu.
