Mediterranean. Located in the lobby of Hotel Jackson, close to the Town Square, Figs is an upmarket Lebanese/Mediterranean restaurant with flexible seating, a copper-topped bar, two-story wood-burning fireplace, and authentic food that is a cut above the average US-based Mediterranean restaurant. They have numerous clearly-marked vegan options, including award-winning hummus and pita, a vegetable kebab off the fire served with a rice pilaf amandine, salads such as tabbouleh (based around bulgur wheat and parsley), and mezze (small plates) like baba ghanoush (eggplant). Vegan options can be found to suit all palates, ranging from the unusually subtle, well-balanced hummus, to stronger flavors from mezze including olives and pickles, or optional customizations to the hummus (such as Aleppo peppers and sun-dried tomatoes). Their dinner menu has even more vegan options than their lunch menu, including a wider range of mezze such as stuffed grape leaves and spinach pie (fatayer), and the option to get a vegan-friendly five mezze deal — perfect for sharing. Vegetarian café. As one of the few vegetarian restaurants in this part of the cattle ranching West, Sweet Melissa is a true oasis. Try Vegan Lasagne, Three Bean Chili, a Grilled Hummus Sandwich, or the Seitan Reuben. Save room for some vegan chocolate cake. Vegan items are noted on the menu.

Mexican/Tex-Mex. Tex Tubb’s Taco Palace offers multiple dishes for the zesty vegan and vegetarian palette. While there isn’t a section specifically for vegan and vegetarians, the various options are dispersed throughout their lengthy menu. All menu options are labeled V for vegan and Vg for vegetarians. For the hungry vegan Tex Tubb’s offers Black Bean & Corn Flautas prepared with handmade corn tortillas filled with roasted corn and black beans and served with a side of guacamole and chipotle dipping sauce, plus rice and your choice of refried or black beans.
