1) GREETINGS FROM THE EDITOR
I am delightfully amazed in finding that more and more organizations are
catering to vegetarians and vegans. Earlier this week, I was lucky enough
to attend a Charity Luncheon at my place of employment. In honor of the Charity,
they held a fundraising luncheon in which they sold and served different food
items. The food items were mostly homemade, some were catered. I can safely
say that I have never tasted a Vegetarian Black Bean Soup as good as I tasted
at the luncheon. Other vegetarian items included the Pasta Salad, Garden Salad,
Potato Soup, and Vegan Pound Cake. It is wonderful to know that Vegetarian
and Vegan awareness is growing rapidly, as many more people convert to cease
consumption of flesh, as well as animal based products.

6) STAR TREK AND MEAT EATING
With the recent passing of Leonard Nimoy also known as Mr. Spock of Star Trek,
VRG would like to highlight articles referencing the vegetarianism of Mr. Nimoy
as well as a video from William Shatner.
A teacher discusses how infusing the Ethics of Star Trek into engineering
education opened a discussion to focus on the basis of their decisions, be
it logical or emotional; and how Mr. Spock always seemed to rationally handle
moral dilemmas:
Mr. Spock was a vegetarian on the show Star Trek. He was a vegetarian, possibly
for philosophical as well as for dietary reasons, and has no taste for blood.

Also of interrest is that William Shatner (from Star Trek) was in a short
movie promoting Vegetarianism.
