4) VRG OUTREACH

VRG Nutrition Advisor Reed Mangels will be a speaker for the Vegetarian Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group Spotlight session at the annual FNCE meeting of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The session is based on two systematic reviews of topics in vegetarian nutrition, namely, Vegetarian Nutrition for Disease Management and Vegetarian Nutrition for Disease Prevention, that were conducted for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Evidence Analysis Library. The session is tentatively titled Exploring the Rewards and Challenges of Vegetarian Diets: A Fresh Look at the Academy's Position. Reed Mangels and Nanci Guest are the speakers for the session. It's 10/6/24 from 3:30-5pm in Minneapolis, MN.

6) TWIN CITIES VEGFEST IN MINNEAPOLIS SEEKS DIETITIAN

Twin Cities VegFest is looking for registered dietitians to volunteer a couple of hours at their "Ask a Dietitian" booth on September 22, 2024 at Harriet Island Park. This is an opportunity to share information with people interested in plant-based eating, and to share information about your personal consulting practice if you have one. Interested? FOOD AS MEDICINE HEALTH CONFERENCE

A Food as Medicine Health Conference will be held Sunday, October 20, 2024 in Santa Cruz, California. Food As Medicine - together healthcare professionals, researchers, and experts from various fields to explore the latest scientific findings, clinical applications, and practical insights related to plant-based diets. Conference will be in-person and online. Application for CME credit has been filed with Adventist Health Ukiah Valley and the California Medical Association for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. The Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, has approved 7.25 CPEU hours for dietitians for this conference. Ava from Minnesota said: "Did you know that if humans were killed at the same rate as animals, we'd be extinct within 17 days? This was the startling fact that influenced me to go vegan four years ago, and I haven't looked back since. My name is Ava and I have been vegetarian my whole life. I am extremely grateful for being raised with this compassionate lifestyle and I can't help but feel compelled to spread the word to as many people as possible."

Our health professionals, activists, and educators work with businesses and individuals to bring about healthful changes in your school, workplace, and community. Registered dietitians and physicians aid in the development of nutrition-related publications and answer member and media questions about vegetarian diets. The Vegetarian Resource Group is a non-profit organization. Financial support comes primarily from memberships, donations, bequests, and book sales.
